Patricia McClure

Patricia Joy McClure was born 11/22/58 to Ralph Morgan Parker II "Pete" and Barbara Gertrude Parker . She had an older brother, Ralph Morgan Parker III, and later a younger sister (Pamela Ruth Parker-Martin - 11/09/61 - 08/04/13). She lived in California up until High School, when she and her family moved to Rocky Point, Long Island, NY. There she found her true love and passion for art. Everything from drawing and painting, to creating miniatures for doll houses, there was no craft or art project Pat didn't enjoy, and excel at. The family moved to Evergreen, Colorado, in 1976. There, while working at her father's auto parts store, she met Allen William McClure Jr. "Bill." The two were married only a few months after they met. In 1981 she gave birth to her only child, Genevieve McClure. After divorcing Bill that same year, she moved back to Evergreen to be closer to her parents. Soon after the family moved to Indian Hills, Colorado. Pat found a new passion, Buttons! She joined the Aspen Leaf Button Club, and the Colorado State Button Society. and was an active member of the button community up until her death. When she moved to Longmont in 2003, she joined the Lark But'ning Button Club, while still staying active with the Aspen Leaf members. During her time as a Button Member, Pat held various council member roles, and won a variety of awards for her amazing buttons and displays. One of her favorite things to do, both within the club, and in all other aspects of her life, was to teach. She loved teaching classes on everything from polymer clay buttons, to drawing, to bow making, and everything in between. Pat was diagnosed with breast cancer in January of 2011. After a mastectomy and treatment, she was in remission for a brief time in 2012. In 2013 the cancer had come back, and had spread to her liver. After more treatment, she was back in remission, but again only briefly. Her breast cancer spread to her brain, and she went back into treatment for a third time. After a long, hard battle with cancer, Pat passed away on August 13, 2014, in the Applewood Living Center in Longmont, Colorado. She is survived by her daughter Genevieve, her nieces Emily Martin, Sarah Martin, Margo Parker, her brother Ralph Morgan Parker III, her nephews Adam and Jackson Parker, and her great niece Aurora Gava. She was a wonderful woman, and will be sorely missed.
