Rebecca Christina Duran
July 16th, 1957 - February 26th, 2015
Rebecca Christina Duran earned her wings in the afternoon of Thursday, February 26th at the young age of 57. She was born in Denver, Colorado on July 16, 1957 to Margaret Nolasco and Modesto Garcia. She was the 8th child and 2nd daughter out of 9. Rebecca "Becky" was a very loved and loving daughter, sister, Mom, "Gammy", Aunt, Nina, "Uncle" and friend. She gave unselfishly to whomever was in need. She opened her door to anyone from family to our childhood friends. She was an excellent cook, she could make such a tasty meal out of anything, sometimes she didn't even know what she was making but it was delicious. Children were her life, I don't think there ever was a child that she met that didn't leave her without being held or played with or kissed with her red lipstick on the cheek. Even with her back pain she would get on the trampoline with her grandson and play like they were the same age. If you met her even once you could see what a wonderful person she was. She was loved by many and was not alone when she left this world. She never lost her faith no matter what was thrown her way. She was and is a truly remarkable woman and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by both parents, her sister Mary, her brother Robert "Bob" and her Brother Thomas. She is survived by her son Johnny Michael Duran II, daughter Alicia M. Duran-Friess, Son-in-law Jeremy Friess, their son, her grandson Austin L. Friess and one more on the way! Stepdaughter Christine Pearsall and her husband Tim, their two children Kaylyn And Brooklyn Long, Stepdaughter Laura Garibay and husband Paulo, their three children Anhelyca, Paulo and Jasmine "Bunny" Garibay and her husband and partner of 16 years Gary Webb. Also survived by her brothers Louie(Catherine) Garcia, Jesus Garcia, Lorenzo(Diana) Garcia, Arturo(Juanita) Garcia, Paul(Tom) Garcia, many godchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Services are being held at Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary Parish. Rosary is Wednesday night at 6:30 with reception following in school gym/cafeteria immediately after, Funeral is Friday morning at 11 am and after mass there will be a procession to Mt. Olivet where she will be laid to rest. Reception following funeral to be announced at a later time. In this time of need we are blessed with many family and friends who contributed in such a way that we will never be able to express our heartfelt thanks and appreciation, thank you and God Bless. In lieu of flowers donations can be made at any Bank of the West location in a savings account under her daughters name or through a website that has been set up to help Johnny and Alicia cover memorial expenses.
