State Senator Donald A Sandoval (January 30, 1935 - April 7, 2019) It is with deep sadness that the Sandoval Family announces the passing of their beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather and Brother, Don Sandoval, Who went home to be with the Lord on April 7, 2019. He passed peacefully in his home in Denver, Colorado. Don was preceded in death by his parents Mary Hope Sandoval and Jake Sandoval, and his Brother Robert Sandoval. He is survived by his wife Virginia (married 60 years), his four children: Teresa Sandoval (John Treacy), Diana Garcia (Chris), Ernie Sandoval (Gina), and Mat Sandoval (Everlyn); his Grand Children: Robert (Chico), Jonathan, Daniel, Reina, Alicia, Jacob and Madelyn; his Great-grand children: Debreana, Analise, Lanaya, Hudson, Peyton, Aleena, Audrina, Ella and Gabriel; and his sister, Shirley Sandoval. Don was born at home in Denver, Colorado. He attended Annunciation Grade and High School and Regis College. He served in the United States Army as Supply Sergeant in Germany at the end of the Second World War and the onset of the Vietnam War. When he came home from the Service, he married his wife, Virginia. While raising four children, he was active in the community. In 1977, he was elected and served as a State Senator for 16 years. His greatest achievements in the Senate included introducing and sponsoring the Handicap parking and building access laws in Colorado. Colorado was one of the first states to have such laws to help our handicapped citizens and senior citizens because of Don's aggressive efforts.Other great achievements include pushing the Juvenile Protection laws and obtaining major state funding for State schools. Don also sponsored a bill to bring Major League Baseball, the Rockies to Colorado. He was a Denver business proprietor of a television repair shop, the Bull Ring Restaurant and Lounge, and the Rock Tower where he loved to meet friends and relatives from near and far. Don was very knowledgeable with Electronics and repair. He mentored and helped numerous family and friends with their unique home repairs too. Don was compassionate and friendly, bringing people together because of his joy and love for good company. Wherever he went, people knew him and loved him.
