Mary Jean Deherrera
July 7th, 1941 - February 21st, 2022
Mary Jean Deherrera was Born on Monday, July 7, 1941 in Saguache, Colorado to Elias DeHerrera and Lupe DeHerrera. She was the 6th of 13 children born in the family. Mary graduated from High School on her own. She retired from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). Mary played the guitar and loved music. Her favorite music included the Indian flute, Instrumental, Country Western, and especially Oldies like Patsy Cline, Lorretta Lynn, and Johnny Cash. She also loved to dance. She cherished reading and learning about her heritage. She was a direct descendant of Chief Ouray- of the UTE Tribe. She had more energy than the average person and loved to walk, travel and visit new places. She took a lot of pictures and collected beads. She treasured her roses in the back of her house, cooked when she had to but absolutely loved Ice cream and Pepsi, that was "her drink." When they would go shopping; they would shop until they dropped! Mary will be forever remembered for the way she lived life to the fullest. On Monday, February 21, 2022 Mary went to be with Our Lord she will be forever in our hearts. Mary DeHerrera is survived by: Children: Son, Bennie and son, Gilbert and daughter Brenda and son, Steven Grandchildren- Lisa, Debra, Jacob, David, Jessie, Gilbert Jr., Mary, Pete, Steve, Louis, Reuben, Stephanie Great Grandchildren-Anthony, Emilio, Evan, Jasper, Marcus, Luke, Blake, Lilly, Darian, Gracie, Anna Rae, Ma,Laya, Na,Leigha She was preceded in death by her parents, Elias and Lupe DeHerrera.
