Charis Marie Lopez
August 7th, 1986 - December 20th, 2022
Molly and Mario Lopez welcomed their beautiful daughter, Charis Marie Lopez, on August 7, 1986. Charis was raised with her two sisters Jasmine and Caroline. Her energy earned her the nickname "The Weasel." Charis was always surrounded by friends- friends she kept throughout her life. Charis graduated from Thornton High School in 2004. She was one of the first in her family to receive a Bachelor's degree, graduating from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in 2008. After graduation her adventurous spirit took her across the world to Soul South Korea, where she and her best friend April taught English. In 2013 she began her greatest adventure yet when she became a mother. Charis and Gary welcomed their two beautiful children Saige Erickson (9 years old) and Gary Erickson III (7 years old). Charis expanded her family in 2017 when she and Michael welcomed their daughter Olivia Castillo (5 years old) and Devon Castillo (3 years old). Charis's greatest accomplishment in life was being a mother to her four beautiful children. She taught them to live with purpose, to stop and smell the flowers, to dance like nobody's watching, and to live courageously. She taught them to appreciate their surroundings and see the beauty in everything. Above all, she taught her children to love Jesus- her faith was something to be admired. Charis's light could fill a room. She was one of those stars that burned a lighter hotter in the night sky. Her smile and laughter was contagious, and her sense of humor could make anyone pee their pants. Charis was beautiful, inside and out. She was always there for anyone who needed her. She had an ability to make anyone feel special. Charis's path was never the easy one. She was a fierce advocate for mental health and recovery. She never shied away from sharing her own struggles, and she was always there to support those who needed an ear- She showed up. Her beautiful spirit will always live on- through the spirits of her children, through those who knew and loved her, and through those who continue to walk the road of recovery every day.
