Memorial

On August 15, 2003 Serena Montoya and Rick Rivera welcomed our beautiful Lanaya Amelia Montoya Rivera into our lives. Her siblings included Roy, Charlene, Janeen, Ricky, Janessa, Serena, Josh and Antonio Jr. She was an aunt to Natalie, Roy Jr, Zachary Jr, Aubrey, Isaac, Amelia, Zayden and Zaniyah. She was survived by her aunts Holly, Rose, and Theresa, Uncle Robert, Great Uncle Eric, Great Aunts Elsie and Cindy and a list of loving relatives that would reach the sky. Lanaya's heart was bigger than her smile, and we all know her smile was as big as the moon. She was a rock in the darkest of times for the ones close to her and she overcame some of the toughest of times, some in which many would not have made it through. The life she was dealt was not an easy one but she made the best she could in every situation. She always put her sadness and pain to the side to help anyone overcome their struggles. Lanaya always wanted better for her family and strived for success every step of the way. Acquiring a job as soon as she could at the age of 13 at the Denver Zoo. Working, completing her education, and taking care of her siblings all at the same time Lanaya was one of our strongest soldiers. As a child she loved skateboarding, football and things that most girls her age would not dare to do. She was tough inside and out. Heaven gained an angel on December 28and her name was Lanaya. She will always be with us in our hearts and her memories will be keepsakes for the rest of our lives. Her laugh will forever echo in or minds and her smile will always shine and light up the skies.
