Joe Garfield Valdez
May 6th, 1936 - April 17th, 2020
Joe Garfield Valdez was born on May 6th 1936 in the West Side of Denver at home on 926 Navajo, to Rosendo and Mary Valdez. He left home at a very young age and survived the best way he could. He was in and out of college for many years. He enjoyed constructing and making additions to his home. He was very proud of his frontroom and custom built fireplace by his brother Cayetano. He enjoyed keeping his grass and yard looking the best on the block. He loved breeding, training and caring for his dogs (mostly German Shepards). He loved to play poker, handball and chess. He enjoyed watching westerns, the Broncos and boxing. He used to tell the younger generation "put on the gloves" while he watched us box each other and sipped on his peppermint Schnapp's. He also enjoyed being in the ring and was a boxer himself. He named his son Rosendo but not after asking for permission from his father. Our Pops was very to the point and said what he meant and meant what he said, he was always real with you. There will be NO ONE like him! With his death we have lost a father, a best friend, a grandfather, a brother, a godfather, an uncle and a real OG. He is preceded in death by Rosendo Valdez, Mary Valdez, Arturo Artie Valdez, Cayetano Leo Valdez, Veronica Betty Lopez, Conferina Connie Garcia, Jennie Juana Maseas, Rudolf Rudy Gutierrez, Aaron Rivera Survived by; Rosendo Valdez Jolenea Valdez, Joe Rivera, Marcela Romero, Dora Guerra, Shirley Valdez, Pauline Karlin, Rose Evans, Joe Gallegos, Melissa Rivera,Tenessa Romero, Leroy Romero jr, Karlos Lucero, Malia Valdez, Santino Castillo, Maya Castillo And to all la familia and friends we understand we cannot all be together to mourn the passing of our dad due to covid19, that took him from us. This is one of the hardest times we have been through, not being able to be around family. But we give all our love and respect to everyone for there support. We Thank You and love you all. Stay safe and healthy till we can all get together to celebrate our pop's life.
