Romero Funeral Home and Cremations - Denver
Miguel Quiros Chaves
May 2nd, 1934 - April 15th, 2017
Miguel Q. Chaves 82, passed away April 15, 2017, in Colorado Springs, CO due to heart failure. Miguel was born May 2, 1934 in San Jose, Costa Rica. He was the only son of Miguel H. Chaves and Laura Q. Aran. Mr. Chaves was a certified HVAC repairman, carpenter, photographer and jack of all trades. In 1954, he immigrated to the United States, settling in Denver, CO where he married Sarah J. Roybal in 1961 and raised his family in the north Denver Highlands neighborhood. Miguel was well known for his devotion to family, love of soccer and ingenuity to teach himself new skills and "invent" unique tools to use on his endless stream of projects. He took the time to invest in those around him. Old friends and new were blessed by the hours he spent helping them better themselves and master the trade of their choice. The words "can't be done" were an inspiration to Miguel. He didn't let his age or lack of experience stop him from taking on the most complex of problems. Strength, stamina and determination were the driving forces that allowed him to take on new tasks in his seventies: replacing all the drywall in his 1904 house, casting custom concrete fence posts for the front yard and digging a 6ft deep trench to repair a sewer line. Mr. Chaves is survived by his wife, Sarah, son, Michael A. Chaves (Debbie), Colorado Springs, CO, and daughter, Martha D. Chaves, Denver, CO and seven grandchildren: Jacob, Erika, Bernadette, Merry, Kirk, Jeremiah and Adelle Chaves, Colorado Springs. He was preceded in death by his son John C. Chaves.
