Janice Lee Casias went to be with the Lord on Tuesday August 15, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She is preceded in death by her parents John Lee and Edith Marie Casias; her godparents Orlando and Della Montoya. She is survived by her daughter Jennalee Casias; siblings Elaine and Connie Casias; nieces Evon (Ron)Torres- goddaughter; Sylvia (Danielle) Mares; Sherae Torres-goddaughter; Chantel Trujillo; JohnnieJean and Jayleen Duran-goddaughter;great nephews and niece Daniel Barges , Jakeob and Meztli Hernandez and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Her family described her as very caring and warm-hearted. She loved the music of Patsy Cline and dancing. She had a magnetic personality and had a collection of family pictures. Janice was born at Rocky Mountain Hospital in Denver, CO. Taken to our family home in the Valverde Community. Our parents bought their first home in Northglenn. At this time the area was open space and farmland. We remember visiting a farm where Janice would ask for chicks or bunnies. So, Dad would make cages. After a while, the bunnies outgrew the cages and had to be taken back to the farmer's. There was a gate between our home, next to Aunt Vivian and Uncle Bob that we were supposed to be sharing. Janice wanted to guard that gate, and that's what she did. Camping trips to Fairplay and Grandby were great memories with family and lots or friends. When there were Family Reunions or Weddings in Trinidad, we all gathered for that special occasion. After leaving Nothglenn, moving into the Westwood area, Janice attended Kepner Middle School. In the summer she worked at A&W Rootbeer stand and was the Queen of Roller City. The first year that Henry Middle school was open, Janice was Head Girl. Then off to Kennedy High School she went! People were attracted to her, she met and befriended so many people. As a little girl and in her teens, Mom would always ask her "where did you meet your friend at, Janice?" she would have them right behind her, giving Mom "that look" and smiled and kept on going... After High School, Janice worked for a Record company as a Customer Service Representative. She met and married Robert Abeyta in 1982. She visited New Mexico several times before deciding to make Taos her new home. She enjoyed the beauty of the land, rodeos as well as learned how to make a great Frito Pie. When she visited home, she would always make Frito Pie for us, while working at the local supermarket. We would see each other about every six month. She was happy there and that is all that mattered. Soon after, she faced the passing of our Mother, six months later, our father. Her life changed in many different way; The birth of her daughter, Jennalee, became her Blessing from God. Janice cherished every moment they spent together. In closing, her way of saying "goodbye" was "Eskimo kisses and butterfly eyes!" She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Everyone is encouraged to wear the color purple the day of her service. Previous Events Visitation & Viewing AUG 28. 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM (MT) St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church 355 S.
