Charles Augustus Doll Jr. 1956 - 2023 Charles (Chip) Augustus Doll, Jr. passed away on August 28, 2023, in Aurora, Colorado, at the age of 67. He was born on January 22, 1956, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Charles Augustus Doll and Violet Jean Cribbs (Major). He was a loyal friend, a devoted son, and a caring brother who took immense pride in his accomplishments. Chip faced various health challenges throughout his life, the consequences of which he accepted with humility and resolve. He was a man who rarely asked for help but was always grateful for the support he received. Chip's resilience and determination were admirable. In his early years, Chip attended Fitzmorris Elementary, Oberon Junior High, and Arvada West High School in Arvada, Colorado, before graduating from Nuernberg American High School in Germany. Chip served in the U.S. Army from 1973 to 1976, proudly contributing to the 32nd Army Air Defense Command as a Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic and Wrecker Operator. While in the army, he was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Outstanding Performance in 1975, the Good Conduct Medal in 1976, the National Defense Service Medal, and Expert M16, Sharpshooter, and Grenade designations. Chip embarked on a successful civilian career following his military service, marked by various notable achievements. In 1982, he became a certified welder. Chip worked as an Ambulance/Truck Mechanic for the City and County of Denver from 1980 to 1983, followed by a role as a Vendor/Cooler Mechanic from 1983 to 1988. In 1989, he took on the position of Equipment Manager before joining the National Science Foundation and Department of the Navy, United States Antarctica Program, as a Facilities Mechanic in 1991. Chip's exceptional service in Antarctica earned him the prestigious Antarctica Service Medal in August 1992. Continuing his career, Chip became a Maintenance Manager and Plant Mechanic from 1992 to 1994. In recent years, he worked at the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center, dedicating his skills and expertise until his passing in 2023. Outside of his professional life, Chip was an avid motorcyclist and adventurer. He found solace and excitement in exploring the open road and embracing new experiences. Chip embraced the Jewish faith and found comfort and strength in his religious beliefs. A service to honor Chip's life will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W. Kenyon Avenue, Denver, CO 80236. The date and time of the service will be announced in due course. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to a charity of your choice in Chip's memory. Charles Doll, Jr. is survived by his brother, Michael L. Doll, and his sisters, Laura (Robert) Jenkins and Merrilynn Taylor, his uncle, Lawrence Major, and aunt, Carol (Robert) Coon, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Chip was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Doll, and Violet (Arvil) Cribbs, his aunt, Judy Major, and former wife and partner, Cyndee Jo Willis. Chip's unwavering spirit, resilience, and dedication to his work will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
