He was born on September 6, 1942, in Jerome, AZ, to Carlton Holman and Tannie Mae Guthrie. He was the third of 3 sons to join the family. After his time with the Forest Service he relocated with his family to the Mesa, AZ area where he started his second career as a life insurance agent. Phil was honored to serve 3 full-time missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The first was as a young man in Germany and Italy. Later in his life he served in Palmyra, NY and the Washington, DC Temple with his late wife Marianne. Phil is preceded in death by his parents (Carl and Tannie Mae Guthrie), wives (Suzy and Marianne Guthrie), and brothers (Carl and Don Guthrie).
