Norma "Jo" Josephine Asplin
December 5th, 1938 - April 10th, 2021
Norma (Jo) Josephine Asplin, age 82, passed away April 10, 2021, surrounded by her family. She was born in Evanston, IL, the daughter of Louis Fredric and Evelyn Mae (Johnson) Kludy. Jo graduated Valedictorian from Marshfield High School, Class of 1956. Following graduation, she married her high school sweetheart Keith Herbert Asplin and settled in Madison, WI. While Keith completed his college education, the first four of her six children were born to them. After Keith received his PhD, she gave birth to another son, then they moved to Colorado where her youngest son was born. She was always active in her church, was a Girl Scout Leader, a Cub Scout Leader, active in the PTA, various clubs, and other organizations. She was also a foster mom to two high school girls. Well known for keen intellect, Jo chose to go back to school to complete her post-secondary education at the University of Colorado, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Master of Science Program and went on to become a Child Health Associate/Physician Assistant. She began her career in Lakewood, CO, studying the effects of Ultrasound and she excelled as a CHA/PA at Women’s Hospital in L.A. caring for premature babies, and then as part of the Didactic Studies Leadership Team for the PA Program in Seattle, WA. Jo and Keith lived all over the country, including Wisconsin, Michigan, Colorado, California, New York, Georgia, and Washington before finally landing in Gilbert, Arizona where they enjoyed their much-deserved retirement and celebrated 63 years of marriage. Jo made many friends and continued to be active in her church. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Michael Asplin and his son. She is survived by her husband, Keith Asplin, her daughters, Laura Asplin; Jennifer and her husband Robert Argyelan; her sons, Terence and his wife Faranak (Habibi) Asplin; Christopher and his wife Kirsten (Lee) Asplin; Gregory and his wife Kristen (Rangel) Asplin; her daughter-in-law Karla Kay (Tracy) Asplin; her brother Fredric Kludy; Sister Marcie and her husband Richard Lauterbach; eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends. Due to COVID Restrictions, the Celebration of Jo’s Life will be not be held until Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 11:00 am at the First United Methodist Church of Gilbert, 331 S Cooper Rd., Gilbert, AZ 85233. Those who wish to remember Jo in a special way, may make gifts in her name to Hiefer International, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
