In the early morning hours on Friday, July 26, 2019, God sent one of his Angels to call one of his chosen servants, Maxie Ruth Kirk from labor to reward. She peacefully passed away in the new home with her faithful husband at her side in San Antonio, TX. where they had resided only for a few months. On July 9, 1944, in Tylertown, MS, the late Everette and Love Luter were blessed with a beautiful daughter, the fifth of what would be eight children. They prayed for a child of good character and God honored their prayers and gave them a double portion. In 1946, her family moved to Gulfport,MS, and joined the Assembly of Zion Church of God in Christ under the late Bishop Elsie McDowell. At an early age, Maxie accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was later baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit. Maxie received her early childhood education in the Mississippi public system and graduated from the 33rd Ave. High School, Gulfport, MS, in May of 1963. By the summer of 1964, her mother allowed her to go to California to continue her education. There, she attended San Juanquin Delta College in Stockton, CA where she began studying to be a nurse. This would later be interrupted when she was introduced to a young Airman, named William Charles Kirk(Affectionately called Billy). After getting orders to go to the Philippines, he asked for her hand in marriage. They were joined in Holy Matrimony on July 3, 1965 in Tucson, AZ and was married 54 years. Mother Maxie Kirk and Charles relocated to Carson, CA, In 1983 where they resided until 1992. During that time Maxie attended Faithful C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of Elder Williams, located in Compton, CA. She worked at Harbor General Hospital as a pediatric nurse for 10 years. They moved to Mesa, AZ where they resided until 2019. Maxie worked as a nurse at Hospice Family Care from 1993-2005. Maxie attended Holy Temple C.O.G.I.C., Pastored at the time by Elder Boyd, who was then proceeded by the current Pastor, Elder Boyd. In February 2019, Maxie and Charles moved to San Antonio, Texas, where they were members of Praise Cathedral, pastured by Sam E. Inglehart. On July 26, 2019, Mother Maxie Kirk was called to eternal rest. Mother Maxie was preceded in death by her Parents, Love and Everette Luter, two brothers; Jap and Gerald Luter; One sister, Lois Booth, Son, Anthony Kirk: Father in Law: Charles Kirk, Mother in Law, Bennilee Booker. Mother Maxie Kirk, leaves to cherish her memory, her husband; Charles Kirk Sr.(Billy), Sons; Charles Kirk Jr.; Stephen Kirk and Daughter in Law Cecilia Kirk(Cessie), One Daughter, Denise Lockett; Son in Law Peter Lockett, Sr.: Grandchildren: Breeana Kirk, Peter Lockett Jr., Reneka Lockett, Denisha Lockett, Paul Lockett, Isiah Brown, Stephen Kirk Jr., Elias Kirk, Kayla Kirk, Celeste Kirk. Two Great Grandchildren: Peter Lockett III (Pop Ups) and Meylin Lockett; Three Sisters, Mildred Cleveland and Kat Rogers of Mississippi, Carol Wren of Alabama, One Brother, Everette Luter of Michigan, Several God Sons and Daughters and a host of Nieces and Nephews.
