Alan L. Fish
April 17th, 1936 - June 18th, 2021
Alan Fish, 85, passed away on June 18, 2021 in Chandler, AZ. He was a longtime resident of Gilbert, AZ. He was born in Fort Dodge, IA to Lester A. and Mary (Tyrrell) Fish. He had 3 brothers and 2 sisters. As a boy, he lived 5 years in St. Cloud, MN before moving back to Fort Dodge, where he graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1954. He joined the Navy in 1955, where he spent 4 years. He served aboard the USS Willis A. Lee in the Atlantic Ocean. After the Navy, he went on to State University of Iowa where he received an Electrical Engineering Degree in 1964. He was a member of Tau Beta Pi (National Engineering Honor Society) and Eta Kappa Nu (international honor society of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers). He furthered his education by taking classes at Arizona State University. After graduation, he moved to Arizona where he worked for Motorola in the government electronics division for 35 years before retiring in 1998. While in Arizona, he met Alice Raynard and they were married June 8, 1968. They celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary this year. They raised a family of 3 boys: Larry, Brian, and Duane. He had a love for flying and became a pilot in 1968. After retirement he purchased a Cessna 150, which he flew around the country. He was also a passionate Amateur Radio operator. He received a Worked All States Award. He is survived by his wife, Alice Fish; 3 children: Larry (Ann) Fish, Brian (Erin) Fish, Duane (Sarah) Fish; 6 grandchildren: Sarah Feeney, Ryan Feeney, Logan Fish, Owen Fish, Lucie Fish, and Henry Fish. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers (Steve and Hans), and one sister (Kris Schooley). Celebration of life open house will be held Aug 8th at 2103 E Woodman Dr, Tempe, AZ from 1pm- 4pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to American Parkinson Disease Association (https://www.apdaparkinson.org/).
