Obituary Nathan Albert Egan 1998-2019 Nathan Albert Egan was born June 16, 1998 in Ann Arbor, Michigan to John Andrew (Drew) Egan and Carolyn Koning Egan, the sixth and youngest child. He was a happy-go-lucky child with a fun-loving personality. He attended school in Brighton, Michigan where he enjoyed many friends and graduated from Brighton High School. Nathan was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served as deacons and teachers quorum president. He also enjoyed his time in the Boy Scouts of America where he earned the rank of Eagle Scout and one Silver Palm. Nate was athletic and enjoyed a variety of physical activities including basketball, football, boating and the great outdoors. Nate had a very adventurous spirit. He especially loved going on cruises where he enjoyed fun activities such as wave runners, zip lines, the beach, swimming with sting rays, and anything else outside in the sun. Nate, though sometimes quiet, loved his interactions with family and friends and especially enjoyed playing with his young nieces and nephews. He had a wonderful heart and reached out to those in need when the opportunity presented itself. Unfortunately, Nate fell victim to one of our nation’s plagues; substance abuse. Although his last four years were not his happiest, they are not what defined him. What defined him was his love of family and friends, a loving heart, a fun sense of humor, a good practical joke, and sudden bouts of goofiness. The family takes comfort from our belief in the gospel of Jesus Christ and our knowledge that He has power to heal Nate’s afflictions and replace them with peace and happiness. We also find comfort in knowing that by that same power we may all live together again in the next life and resume our happy family associations. Nate is survived by his parents, five siblings: Melissa (Mark) Gardner, Heather (Jon) DeVries, Ryan (Brittany) Egan, Jake (Millie) Egan, and Becca Egan; his grandparents Carol Booth and Dee Egan; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his grandpa and namesake Albert Koning, grandpa Karl Egan, and grandmother Lorraine Cowgill. His funeral service will be Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 4170 South Ranch House Parkway, GILBERT, Arizona, 85297. A viewing will be held at 10:00 am with the service following at 11:00 am. Interment will be at San Tan Memorial Gardens at 22425 East Cloud Road, Queen Creek, AZ 85142 In lieu of flowers, we invite you to make a contribution to Feed My Starving Children (https://www.fmsc.org) or a worthy charitable organization of your choosing.
