Paul John Steen
March 30th, 1951 - September 13th, 2019
Johnboy’s journey began on March 30th, 1951 in San Juan Rizal, Philippines. He was only 18 years old when he immigrated with his six younger siblings to Buena Park, CA, U.S.A. on May 24th, 1969. As a young adult, Johnboy adapted quickly to living the good life in America: embracing sports, growing special tomatoes and rock n roll! Johnboy was an avid sports fan! He loved watching NASCAR, the Lakers, and the Raiders. He was a phenomenal woodworker who built beautiful home furniture and intricate jewelry boxes. In 1992, John uprooted his family of five from Sun City, CA to live in Mesa, AZ when his employer announced moving the business to Arizona. John and Leann met in 1979 and married in 2013. Any time of day, Johnboy’s front door was always open and he’d make you instantly feel at home. He had a way of letting you know, during his signature 30-second phone calls, that you were so loved. Johnboy’s greatest pride and joy was being a Grandpa. He enjoyed creating memories and spending time with each of his grandchildren. John is survived by his wife: Leann; his children and grandchildren: Sarrah, Sean and Xavier Johnson; Laura and Liliana Steen; Paul, Amber, Bailey, Braylon and Braxton Steen; his mother: Esperanza Steen; and his siblings: Asbury Steen, Lucy Doloiras, Robert Steen, Edwin Steen, Cynthia Crisan, Christopher Steen and James Steen. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. John was preceded in death by his sibling, Angeline Steen.
