Rohland Curtiss Halvorson

Rohland (Rollie) Halvorson, 90 of Mesa, AZ passed away February 22, 2021. He was an Army veteran; having served during the Korean War. After returning from Korea, he married Joan Mary Bidon on November 26, 1952. They were married for over 67 years until Joan passed away on September 11, 2020. Rollie worked for Deluxe Check Printers for many years and enjoyed and maintained several friendships from his time there. He and Joan also had lots of great adventures with their tight-knit “camping bunch.” Rollie loved singing bass in church choirs and was an active member of East Valley Barbershop Harmonizers. He was very involved throughout his life. He participated in the St. Paul Scouts with his sons, played horseshoes, was in various bowling leagues in MN, and later transferred his skills to lawn bowling in AZ. Rollie truly cherished his many friends and neighbors at Silveridge RV Resort and was happy to be able to remain there living independently until his death. He was a devoted family man and loved telling stories about them to anyone who would listen. Rollie and Joan raised their children in St. Paul. MN. He first retired to Mille Lacs, MN and later permanently resided in Mesa, AZ. Rollie is survived by his children: Belinda Sutter (Brian), Kevin Halvorson, Terrence Halvorson (Thu), and Joseph Halvorson (Paula), granddaughters: Amy, Carissa and Alexandria, and great grandchildren: Lillian, Emily, Lana, Garrett and Evelyn. Rollie’s internment and service with military honors will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
