Terry Marcus Koenig
September 16th, 1938 - August 30th, 2021
Retired airline Captain Terry Marcus Koenig, 83, of Chandler, Arizona took his final flight to meet his Savior on August 30, 2021. He was born on September 16, 1938, to his parents Paul and Mary Koenig who preceded him in death. From a young age, Terry was ambitious. His mother loved to tell the story of losing him at the age of 4 or 5 while waiting to board a ship in Sitka, Alaska. She finally found him on the sidewalk trying to sell the contents of his little suitcase including his underwear. Raised during the Depression had a lasting effect on him. He had many ups and downs in life but was always optimistic. He went after his dreams with a passion and didn’t give up. After serving in both the Navy and Airforce he worked on becoming a pilot. Terry did lots of interesting things before becoming an airline pilot, including starting an airport; he loved to fly, even after he retired from the airlines, he enjoyed flying his Cessna. He was a business owner and throughout the years of that business employed many people and even saved a few dogs along the way. He survived cancer and even though he was unable to eat, he took up cooking and was always making something new. He did most of the cooking for the family get togethers. He was always thinking outside of the box, inventing something or modifying something that he had bought to either make it better or to use it for an entirely different purpose. This never stopped even when he was sick. Terry was smart, courageous, stubborn, thoughtful, and loved his family. He is survived by his wife Cheryl (Peterson) Koenig; his children Beth Haley, Walter Koenig (Janet), Mary Lewis (Phil), Heather Holcomb (Alan), Steven Hester and Michael (Cherilyn) Hester. His grandchildren, Joshua Koenig (Leslie), Charles Haley (Christi), Angela Haley, Richard Bryans, Keith Bryans-Adame, Lori Ament (Justin), Terragene Shea (Michael), Max Mckie, Aaron McBride and Parker Hester. Great-grandchildren Sean Haley, Nathan Koenig, Grayson Koenig, Avery Ament, Edison Shea and Benton Shea. His sister Paula Casterson (Robert) of Corcoran, CA. Nieces Marci Barone and Faith Faria. Internment at National Cemetery in Cave Creek, AZ to be held September 14, 2021, at 9:00 AM. Memorial to be held at later date.
