Edwin E. Hodgess
February 24th, 1953 - December 11th, 2021
Edwin E. Hodgess, III, 68, of Maricopa, AZ, passed away December 11, 2021after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his children, Shayne Hodgess, David Hodgess, and Scott Hodgess; grandchildren, Samuel Hodgess, and Reed Hodgess; his sisters, Mary (Michael) O’Truk, and Erin Hodgess. He is preceded in death by his parents, Justine J. and Edwin E. Hodgess, Jr., as well as his much beloved cat, Merlin. Ed was born February 24, 1953 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He grew up a passionate fan of the Pirates, Steelers, Penguins, and Pipers – and rooted on Pitt and Purdue for his dad and sisters. He later lived in Indiana, starting a family, before later moving to Arizona. Ed had an infectious smile, wonderfully mischievous sense of humor, and as a result, numerous friends. He also loved music, reading, any ‘70’s sitcom – and Columbo. He had a warm and giving spirit that allowed him to be a part of so many people’s lives, reaching out never expecting anything in return. As he grew older he truly lived as he preached to his children – always do the right thing, no matter how hard it is, even if it’s unpopular, always do the right thing. A celebration of his life will be held February 26th, 2022 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local animal shelter, the American Cancer Society, or the charity of your choice.
