Cassandra LaVeeda Dorsey
June 15th, 1949 - May 3rd, 2023
Cassandra was born in Ameagle, West Virginia on June 15, 1949. She was the 4th out of 5 children to the late Joe David & Mary Alice Lambert. She was preceded in death by her late husband Wayman Dorsey, 2 brothers Rodney Lambert (Brenda) & Joe Frazel Lambert and 1 sister LaVerne Williams. Cassandra moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1971 where she started a new life with her 2-year-old son David Saunders. She entered into marriage with Wayman Dorsey on September 1, 1983. Out of this union, her daughter, Lynette, was born. Cassandra was affectionately known by family and friends as "Veeda." Her strong faith in God allowed her to persevere through trials and tribulations. She attended and was a member of Unity Tabernacle Church of God for 30 years. She worked for the U.S. Coast Guard at the Federal Building as the department supervisor for the data entry operators. After leaving the US Coast Guard, she went on to pursue a degree in Medical Assisting through Remington College. She loved her job and enjoyed working with patients and the community. She retired as the office manager for Dr. Richard King Internal Medicine and Geriatrics. The battle with her health issues eventually led to her moving to Arizona to live with her children. Cassandra was an avid reader, loved traveling, taking photos, and making quilts for her grandchildren, as well as spending time with her family! Cassandra will be lovingly remembered by her last surviving sibling, Vicki Weston, son, David Saunders (Kim), daughter Lynette Dorsey (Malcom) 7 grandchildren: Angelina, Alisha, Aleyah, Taylor, D.J., Bryce and Mason. 5 great grandchildren: Ava K., Ava W., Kaden, Ayla and Elijah and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. Service on Tuesday, May 16th, 2023 from 11 am to 2 pm. Final Resting Place at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
