Donna Coleen Bishop
July 14th, 1949 - October 17th, 2021
Donna Coleen Toot Bishop, 72, of Mesa, Arizona passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2021. She was born July 14, 1949, in Mesa, Arizona to John W. Toot and Dorthella "Dot" Randall Toot. Donna grew up in Mesa and graduated from Westwood High School. While attending Mesa Community College, she met Charles O. Bishop and they were married on July 25, 1969 in the Mesa Arizona Temple. Together they had 5 children, which Donna raised as a stay-at-home mom on the very same street where she spent her childhood. As her children grew older, Donna was determined to finish the education that she started years before. So, in 1991, she went back to college, and in 1993 graduated with an Associates of General Studies degree from MCC. Donna re-entered the workforce to help support her children as they served Church missions. As the Activities Coordinator at the Mesa Senior Center, Donna enjoyed interacting with the participants, and later worked with patients doing x-rays and casting for orthotics at two different podiatry practices in Mesa. She served faithfully throughout her life in many church positions, though she especially enjoyed serving as Ward organist and Primary pianist, which she did for many years. She was constantly helping others, could fix almost anything, and was an example of kindness to all who knew her. Her family and service in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints were the center of her life. She will be greatly missed. Donna is survived by her children: Anna (Ryan) Clarkson, John (Elaina), Nathan (Julie), Daniel (Becca), Michael (Lindsey), and 15 grandchildren, whom she loved and cherished. She is also survived by a sister Shirley Shill, a brother-in-law Duane Larsen, a sister in-law Margaret Toot and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Friday, November 5, 2021 at the LDS chapel, 422 E. University Drive, Mesa, AZ. A memorial service honoring Donna's life will be held Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 10:00 am at the same location. Interment will be in Pine, AZ at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to an organization that was dear to Donna's heart: the Senior Citizens Affairs Foundation of Pine-Strawberry, online at thepinemall.org/support-us or by mail at SCAF, PO Box1281, Pine, AZ 85544.
