Don Karl Stapley

Don Karl Stapley, 84 of Mesa, Arizona passed away on July 6, 2020. Don was born on July 7th, 1935 to Thryle H & Ruth Openshaw Stapley in Phoenix, Arizona and was the youngest of four sons. Don grew up in Phoenix enjoying spending time with his friends at the local swimming pool and getting into all kinds of mischief. He attended Roosevelt Grammar School and Phoenix Union High School where he graduated in 1954. Don moved to Mesa, Arizona in 1967 and settled into the Mesa Country Club neighborhood where he would raise his children. Don went to work for the family owned business, Arizona Hardware Company. He also worked for several years for Stapley Wholesale. Don loved sports, especially Football and was a season ticket holder of the Phoenix Suns and Arizona State Sun Devils football teams. Don was very active and enjoyed hunting, all water sports including boating, water skiing, scuba diving and fishing. Most of all, he loved playing golf and cards with his buddies at the Mesa Country Club. Don was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where he held many callings. He really enjoyed the years he spent volunteering at the LDS Cannery. Don is preceded in death by his brothers A.T "Fred", Richard and Jim. He was also preceded in death by his children Danny (Julie), Denis, Sherry (David Burrell) and Sean (Lori). Don is survived by his sons Don Clay (Jane) & Scott Karl (Shannon) and grand children Tara (Todd Jarman), Chad, Trent (Courtney), Beau (Camille), Tatum (Klete Rogers), Brittin Burrell (Mary), Brecklyn (Edwin Palacios), Conner Stapley (Kennedie), Madison, Sheridan, Brea, Alycia, Frankie and 13 Great Grandchildren. Don will be laid to rest in the City of Mesa Cemetery alongside his children. Due to the current state of affairs as it pertains to the Covid-19 pandemic there will not be a viewing or a funeral.
