William Sargent Champlin

Bill Champlin May 3, 1939 - July 2, 2020 William Sargent Champlin (Bill) passed away Thursday July 2, 2020 at Chandler Regional Hospital, with his daughter Sargi at his side. Bill was 81. He was born in Fargo North Dakota to John H. and Mary Jane Champlin. He was a resident of Chandler Arizona for the past 29 years. Bill graduated from Southern Methodist University. That is where he met and married his wife, Ann B. Champlin. Bill had a passion for swimming, golf, and horse racing. He was on the SMU swim team and Captain for 1 year. You could find him on the golf course every Sunday morning. He loved watching the horses run and of course betting on them. He had several race horses over the years and still had one at the time of his passing. He is survived by his Daughter, Sargi Grijalva & husband John, 2 grandsons, 1 granddaughter in law, (who he loved like a daughter), 4 great grandkids and 5 additional great grandkids that came to him through a wonderful blended family, 1 brother, John H Champlin Jr., 3 sisters, Nancy Champlin Bathe, Jill Champlin, Jo Champlin-Davidson. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Ann Bishop Champlin, a daughter, Leslie Champlin, and 1 sister, Jane Giddings. Bill was an icon in the oil & gas industry, and was a supporter of the Arizona Petroleum Marketers Association, (APMA) Scholarship Foundation and served as Vice President Emeritus of the association and a Foundation Trustee. The Champlin Family would love to honor Bill with sending donations to the APMA Scholarship Foundation, which pays out 100% of proceeds that are contributed to scholarship winners.
