Attorney and beloved father, Bernald Clyde Porter, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2019 in Tempe, Arizona at the age of 83. Bern was born on September 26 th , 1935 in Snowflake, AZ to Lorin Donald and Folivia Porter. His childhood was blissfully spent in Heber Arizona where he lived an abundant life full of faith, family, sawmilling, hard work, and the love of music. He attended Snowflake High School where he excelled at just about everything. As an athlete he played basketball, football, and baseball. Scholastically he was very bright and without much effort excelled in all subjects. He was a member of the glee club, and choir and had a natural talent for singing and performing. He was such a handsome fellow! During his Junior Year the most talented and beautiful girl at school stole his heart and swept him off his feet. Emily Winona Brimhall was his sweetheart! Soon after High School graduation the two were married in St. George, Utah. While married to Winona, they raised seven adoring children and he served in many church callings. They lived in Snowflake, Heber, Koizumi, Honshu, Japan near Tokyo, Mesa, Tucson, Scottsdale, Tempe and Gilbert. Bern attended Arizona State University where he received a B. S. and then went on to receive his J. D. at the University of Arizona in 1961. He had an immense passion for his profession and practiced law in the state of Arizona up until he retired in April of 2019 just before his death. After 39 years of marriage, Winona and Bern divorced and he then married Wanda Weber, a PH.D., Honors Faculty, Psychology Lecturer, at Arizona State University. He quickly inherited four more boys bringing the total of children to nine boys and two girls. Wanda and Bern enjoyed traveling to China, fishing in Alaska, having gingerbread competitions at Christmas and just enjoyed being together. They could spend hours discussing work, world events, and their hopes and dreams. Bern is proceeded in death by his parents Lorin Donald and Folvia Porter, Emily Winona Gordon, Sisters-in-law Beverly Rhoton Porter, Valerie King Porter, and Brothers-in-law LeRoy Gibbons, Lewis N. Tenney, and BJ Wilson. He is survived by all seven of his siblings; Joseph Dean Porter (Sandra), Lorene Donna Poulter (Raymond), Mary Lovine Tenney, William Jack Porter, Lorin D. Porter (Tonita), Barbara Jean Wilson, and Leslie Faye Armstrong. He is also survived by all of Winona's children; Marley Ervin Porter, Don Wesley Porter (Jode), Stuart Brent Porter (Kristin), Lisa DaNae Sandor (Fred), Nathan Guy Porter (Kathi), Jason Dean Porter (Mona), and Rachelle Rackley (Ron).
