Grace Florence Woodring

Grace Florence Wooding, age 80, passed away quietly in her sleep on April 24th, 2019 at Chandler Memory Care, a caring and loving facility in Chandler, Arizona. She was born on February 8th, 1939 in Pope, NY to Jenny Weaver and Charles Benintende. Grace graduated from Randolph Central High School in 1957. She was then married to Edsel (Pete) Woodring in 1957 and moved to Arizona in 1969 where she spent the rest of her days with her family and volunteering at Chandler Cancer Center and Chandler Center for the Arts. Left to honor Grace and remember her love are Grace's three (3) children, Amber (David) Scrivner, Robin (Moe) Vega, Alan (Kathy) Woodring; three (3) grandchildren David Ryan (Shaleen) Vega, Neal (Jill) Enns and Beaulin Neal, many nieces and nephews and her lifelong friend Susie Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Harvey "Benny" Lauritson. Services were held at Meldrum Mortuary in Mesa AZ on April 29th, 2019 and she was buried at Mesa Cemetery. Grace Florence Woodring Eulogy by Amber, Robin and Alan Grace Florence Wooding, age 80, passed away quietly in her sleep on April 24th, 2019 at Chandler Memory Care, a caring and loving facility in Chandler, Arizona. She was born on February 8th, 1939 in Pope, NY to Jenny Weaver and Charles Benintende. Grace graduated from Randolph Central High School in 1957. She lived with her brother, Harvey Lauritson, and his family in her late teens. She was married to Pete Woodring in 1957 and moved to Springville, NY where they had three children, Amber, Robin and Alan. Amber, the oldest, could never do any wrong and was mom's biggest confidant. Alan was her youngest baby boy and never did anything wrong, including a few things he never fessed up to and Robin, the middle-child, got the belt instead. Mom could and did "cuss like a sailor". Mom enjoyed her sweets including 4 tablespoons of sugar in her coffee, Pepsi and cookies for breakfast and she always had candy. Mom worked odd jobs in our younger years, but was mainly was a stay at home mom. My dad had bad asthma and we moved to Tempe, AZ in 1969. Mom had a tough life with dad when he drank and they divorced in 1975. Mom loved to give! She always had birthday and Christmas gifts for everyone. She loved Christmas and always took every advantage to take a picture with Santa, even after she lost her memory she would always go in the van to see Christmas lights and take a picture with Santa's when he visited. She worked retail and then at Courier Manufacturing until she retired in the mid-1990s. In her retirement, she volunteered at Chandler Cancer Center and Chandler Center for the Arts. Mom loved us kids and her grandkids! Her life was us kids! She would call two months in advance of a holiday to make sure she knew when and where to go. Then, she would show up an hour early "to help"! She had a few lifelong friends (Susie met 1960s, Mert, Pat and Judy met 1970s), but she loved us kids! She loved to go to Alan and Kathy's cabin and travel with us kids and her friends, especially Susie (Gretch) Miller. Traveling to Alaska, Hawaii and all over AZ. Mom had a stroke in 2012, which affected her memory. However, she never forgot Amber, Alan, Robin or her lifelong friends. She would always hug and kiss us and say "I love you" when we would leave!
