Reed Alvin Nelson April 4, 1925 - April 6, 2019 Our beloved father, grandfather and friend, Reed Alvin Nelson, 94, passed away April 6, 2019 at the Citadel Assisted Care Facility in Mesa, AZ. Reed was born April 4, 1925 in Gunnison, UT to Abinadi and Stena Nelson. He graduated from Gunnison High School and later served in the United States Navy during WWII. He married Elaine Cherry on June 13, 1945. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. They made their home in Ephraim, UT. Reed operated a mechanic shop and gas station while raising three sons with his wife Elaine. He later moved his family to Tempe, AZ where he managed and operated an EXXON gas station and mechanic shop which he later partnered with his son, Jim, who continued the business after his retirement. He and Elaine enjoyed an active retirement together, boating and fishing in Mexico and traveling throughout the United States. After nearly 50 years of marriage, Reed tragically lost his wife, Elaine. He later met and married June Larsen. They enjoyed 20 years together golfing, traveling and visiting family and friends until her death. He is survived by his sons, Jim (Marie) of Tempe, AZ, Doug (Sally) of Midway, UT and Kirk (Tami) of Newport Beach, CA, 9 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. He was so proud and loved each one so very much. He was preceded in death by his wife Elaine and June, his parents; 4 brothers, Lucien, Merrill, Glen and Morris; 4 sisters, Flora, Hazel, Shirley and Barbara and a granddaughter, Jenny. Graveside services will be Tuesday, April 16, at 10:30 a.m. at the Resthaven Cemetery, 4310 E. Southern Ave. Phoenix, AZ. Cemetery Details East Resthaven Park Cemetery 4310 E.
