Homer J. Buck, age 98, beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully in his home in Gilbert, Arizona on June 1, 2017 Homer was married to Martha Jane Sheldon, October 1948. They were married 67 years until her death in March 2016. Homer has four children. Allan Buck (Miriam), Norman Buck (Geri), Randall Buck (Nanette) and Janice Buck (Bruce Binder) He was a loving and devoted grandfather to 11 grandchildren. Steve Buck (Laura), Coleton Buck (Beth), Jennifer Buck (Seth), Curtis Buck, Bradley Buck, Maddison Buck, Jan Sanehira (Blake), Thomas Ogawa, Lauren Pearson (Brant), Marisa Binder, Kaelyn Binder 12 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Homer will be missed by 3 siblings, Gerene Cohrs of Bakersfield, California, Lois Banks of Peoria, Arizona and Gary Buck of Anthem, Arizona and numerous nieces & nephews. Homer was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Buck; his parents Walter & Marie (Driscoll) Buck; a sister, Phyllis Weber; a brother, Walter Buck; a brother, Kenneth Buck, a sister, Alice Parker; a sister, Virginia Boyle, a sister Doris Roney Homer was born March 13, 1919 in Windam, Iowa. He attended school in Cosgrove until he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1936. In 1940 he joined the Iowa National Guard at Iowa City, Iowa. Homer served our country with the 34th Infantry Division in WWII in Ireland, Scotland, Africa and Italy. He took part in 5 campaigns and 3 amphibious landings. Homer was given a Silver Star and a Bronze Battle Star. He was honorably discharged in 1945. Homer was in business for 40 years with The Borden Co., Flynn Dairy and Prairie Farms Dairy. Homer and Martha retired to Arizona in 1986 In lieu of flowers, should friends desire, contributions may be sent to Special Olympics Arizona https://give.specialolympics.org/page/contribute/arizona The celebration of Homer's life will continue with a reception of friends and family after the memorial at the home of Janice Buck.
