Veldon Allred Hoopes, 92 years of age passed away on January 4, 2017 in Gilbert, AZ. He was born in Central, AZ on September 9, 1924 to Seymore B. Hoopes & Dora Allred. Veldon served in the US Army during World War II. He was an anti aircraft artillery gun crew on a tank in Normandy. In 1943, when he returned from the war, he served a Mission for the LDS church in the Pacific Northwest. After completing his mission, he went to BYU and received his degree in accounting. He was married to Martha Thomas for over 30 years. They had no children but enjoyed their many nieces & nephews. Martha preceded him in death in 1997. Veldon worked for the State of Arizona as an accountant for many years. Veldon is survived by his sister-in-law, Mary Carver, nephew, Christopher Carver, nieces, Julie Chacon and Jenny Jensen. Mark and Michael Carver, nephews, preceded him in death as did his brother-in-law, Norman Carver. There will be a graveside service on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at the Lakeside Cemetery in Lakeside, AZ.
