Fred Borja Santos

Fred B. Santos Sr, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, December 23rd at Hospice of the Valley Friendship Village in Mesa, Arizona. He was born on Sumay, Guam. Fred was a proud veteran who served in the United States Air Force for 20 years. Fred is survived by his wife, Juana, and three children: Fred Jr, Rossan, and Sandra. Fred is preceded in death by his parents Mariano and Ana Santos, and siblings: Florence Santos Cruz, Benny Borja Santos, Sister Mary Bernice Santos, and Betty Borja Santos. His surviving siblings are Bernice Santos Wyttenbach, Rosanne Santos Ada, Roke Borja Santos, and Vivian Santos Ada. Fred is a proud veteran of the Vietnam War. As a young teenager, he did whatever he could to take care of his family during the Japanese occupation of Guam and even saved his father's life. When he was old enough, he enlisted in the Air Force and left Guam for the states where he met Juana in a soda shop. They married soon after that. Fred later retired from the Air Force and then worked for the City of Mesa where he took pride in his job making signs and eventually working in a print shop. He retired from the city but often went back to visit his coworkers who enjoyed his sense of humor and playful nature. They also got a kick out of dance moves, which he was always willing show off whenever there was music. Fred was a happy and friendly person whom everyone loved. His quick smile, warm heart, and spirit are very much missed by his family and friends. Fred has 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 28th from 7-9pm at Meldrum Mortuary and services will be held on Tuesday at 10am the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 830 E. Lehi Rd in Mesa. He will be interred in at the City of Mesa Cemetery in Mesa.
