Armando Garcia Sezate
September 2nd, 1934 - October 26th, 2013
Sezate, Armando "Mondy", 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 26, 2013 in his Mesa home. He was born September 2, 1934 in Mesa, Arizona to Candido Lopez and Ramona Garcia Sezate. Mondy graduated from Mesa High School in 1953 where he was very active in all sports, earning Varsity letters all four years. He attended Palo Verde Junior College in California on an athletic scholarship. Mondy entered the Army in January 1957 and was stationed at The Presidio of San Francisco, where he was a member of the 6th Army baseball team. He participated in fast-pitch softball, coached Pop Warner football, and was the only Life Member of the Mesa Southside Sheriff Posse. Mondy was recently baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is survived by his best friend and wife of 57 years, Leslie Arnett Sezate, his two children, Lisa and Scott Sezate, his four grandchildren, Makayla and Baylor Sezate, Hayden and Sierra Loch, his brother, Gabriel Eva and sisters, Toni Casarez, Helen Gutierrez, Connie Zazueta, Alice Estrada, Maggie Olea and Martha Soza Bob. Visitation will be held on Nov. 1st from 6-8pm at Meldrum Mortuary, 52 N. Macdonald, Mesa. Services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2nd, at 10am with a viewing one hour prior at the LDS Church, 830 E Lehi Rd, Mesa corner of Horne and Lehi Rds.. Donations can be made to the LDS Humanitarian Aid Fund, Missionary Fund, or the Perpetual Education Fund, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 50 N. Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah, 84150.
