Melba Roberta Godbold Preece

Melba Roberta Godbold Preece died on March 3, 2023 at the age of 85. She was born in Ocean Beach, CA on November 5, 1937 to Ellis Robert and Beatrice Ida Price Godbold. Melba was sealed to Richard Keller Preece on May 21, 1987 in the Mesa, AZ Temple, he preceded her in death in 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her son, David Correll and two sisters, Marianne Turlington and Mert Carstensen. Melba is survived by her children, Joanne (Correll) and Gary Donaldson, Donna (Correll) and Doug Stanger, Ann (Preece) and Richard Meiners, Richard and Eustolia Preece, David Preece and Janis (Preece) Merrell, her brother Robert Godbold and his wife Jenean, 18 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter. Melba is a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints and served at the Family History Center for many years and later at the Records Operations Center (ROC) and the Distribution Center. She loved genealogy and researching family history. She has also written many of our family members histories including her own. She always wanted to go to England to see the place our family came from and do more research. She had a love of reading and learning. Services will be held Friday, March 10, 2023 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 977 E. Broadway Rd./Solomon Bldg. in Mesa AZ. Viewing is 9:00 AM, Funeral at 10:00 AM and Burial will be at the Mesa Cemetery at 11:00 AM
