Guadalupe Benton, adoringly called Lupe or Lupita by all who knew her and loved her, passed into Heaven on Wednesday, May 26, 2021. Just before sunrise, Lupe died peacefully in her home in Tempe, AZ at the age of 91, in the company of her beloved children. Lupe is preceded by the love of her life, husband of 54 years, Edward Benton, Sr. Lupe is survived by her 4 children: Marta, Edward Jr, Christine, Harriet; 7 grandchildren: Nicholas, Raymond, Zachary, Joshua, Spencer, Christopher, April; and 3 of 13 siblings: Evangelina, Julia and Ernesto. Lupe grew up in Mexico on the family cattle ranch. In her formative years, Lupe was charged with managing the family's general store and meat market alongside one of her 6 brothers, Benjamin. Later, in her 20s, a good friend and hairdresser set up a blind date for Lupe to meet Edward Benton Sr, WWII Veteran. It was an instant attraction and 8-month whirlwind romance, their marriage made in Heaven brought them their firstborn one year later. They settled in Saginaw (Bisbee), Arizona and blessed with 3 children, acquired land in Bisbee Junction and together built their first burnt-adobe ranch home. With 4th child on the way, out in the snow, Lupe planted 76 fruit trees for the finishing touches! Lupe completed a 15-week U.S. citizenship course, passed the exam and proudly became a United States citizen. With her life-long love of sewing, she lovingly created clothing for her 3 girls up until the age of 90. Lupe always loved teaching friends and family how to sew, cook and be creative in hobbies of all kinds. She further enhanced her skills and trained in operating industrial sewing machines; carpooled with friends from Bisbee to Douglas to work in the highly acclaimed and popular men's shirt factory there. Lupe was always sought out for her sewing skills and made everything from custom garments of all styles such as western wear to priest vestments - to upholstery and window treatments. After building another home in Tucson, a carbon-copy of their first accomplishment, the closing of Copper Queen Mine in 1976 prompted our family's move to Tempe, AZ where they became entrepreneurs, establishing B & B Meats and Deli in The Lakes in Tempe and again, Lupe and Benjamin joined forces. Lupe and Edward embarked in other interests such as residential real estate investments that provided fix-up challenges and opportunities for life-long accomplishments. Mom and Dad's life-long work together was fruitful and inspirational to family and friends alike. God truly blessed the sweat of their brow and personal creativity and sacrifices for the good of their family, always. Our family finds peace in knowing that Mom and Dad are whole again and finally together after 8 years apart, rejoicing in God's eternal glory and love. Our loving family made by God; together and forever we give thanks and praise to our Lord our God and His only son, Jesus Christ our Savior and the Holy Spirit ever-present in our hearts and souls. Until the day and hour of God's calling, we look forward to the day we see our ever-loving mom and dad, with open arms, and be together again in eternal joy and love. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
