Melissa "Missy" Ann Whelan

Melissa Ann Whelan, 53 years old, died of complications due to lung cancer November 13, 2023. She was born September 22, 1970, in Moorpark, California, daughter of Terrence W. Whelan and Nancy Ann Whelan. Melissa, "Missy," graduated from high school, class of 1989. Melissa worked a variety of jobs over the years but was loyal as helper and dishwasher to Western Omelet in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Melissa loved arts and crafts and was an accomplished Ceramist. Friends and family are happy to remember her by the beautiful pottery she made for them. Melissa will be remembered for always caring for people that were in need. She would literally give the clothes off her back if needed to someone in need. She was a strong and courageous person that found good in simple things, like a good cup of coffee. She will be deeply missed. Melissa was preceded in death by her mother, Nancy Ann Whelan; maternal grandmother, Angela Cessare; maternal grandfather, Dee Cessare; paternal grandmother, Rebecca Whelan; and paternal grandfather, Thomas Whelan, Sr. Surviving are her father, Terrence W. Whelan; sisters, Wendy Kirkpatrick, Sherry Whelan, and Juliet Harvey; uncle Kenneth and aunt Rebecca LaSala; uncle Thomas Whelan Jr.; nephew, Hunter Kirkpatrick; and niece, Paige Harvey; as well as many cousins.
