Mementos

Johnny was born the youngest of four children to Victor and Sandra Lucero in Alamosa, Colorado on March 8, 1988. After Johnny graduated from Harrison High School in 2006, he enlisted in the United States Army which he served in for fourteen years. He was an exceptional soldier and leader. He earned many awards during his service including two Bronze Stars for his bravery while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Johnny will be sadly missed by his wife De’Ondrea; his children Jakoda (10) and Zariah (7); his parents Victor and Sandra Lucero; his siblings Serena Rodriguez, Victor Lucero, Angelica Lucero; his maternal grandfather Don Rodriguez, nephews Ambrosio Mondragon Jr., Donicio Lovato, Damian Lucero, Estevan Lovato, Donaciano Lucero, D’Angelo Lucero, Demetrius Lucero, Dominic Martinez, Devon Martinez, Romeo Martinez, Giovanni Martinez, Jayden Martinez and Collin Martinez; nieces Charlize Mondragon, Karlina Lovato, Sharika Martinez, Naomi Martinez, Carla Martinez, Carmen Martinez, Arianna Martinez and Caelia Martinez; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Johnny was preceded in death by his grandparents Patricia Rodriguez, Leola Valdez, and Virgil Lucero, his aunt Cleo Manzanares, uncle Sam Manzanares, his cousin David King. Johnny loved his family, his country, the Army, and his brothers and sisters in arms. Johnny enjoyed the outdoors, spending time with his family, and eating good food. He was the best Dad; he loved doing karaoke with Zariah and hanging out with his best friend Koda. Johnny enjoyed fishing and would look forward to his trips to Wyoming. He planned a family trip to Lake Loveland for Dee’s birthday this last year and the whole family had the best time. He was a wild man on a Rzr, and had an appreciation for nice cars. He was a very involved parent and there is no where in the world he wanted to be than with his family. Johnny dearly loved his children and his wife De’Ondrea. The family recently had the best Christmas and this memory will always be cherished. Zariah wanted to make sure all of Daddy’s presents went with him to Heaven. Koda wanted to make sure his daddy had his fishing pole. He always had a smile on his face and would lend a helping hand for whoever needed it. He has so many wonderful friends who will miss him very much. Rest in peace sweet husband, father, son, brother, and friend. We all love you.
