Leandra Acedo Acilo was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and cherished friend who passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at 88 years old due to complications of heart failure. On February 28, 1934, Leandra was born in Jagna, Bohol in the Philippines to her parents Agaton Acedo and Feliciana Galgo. In August 1956, Leandra married her husband, Leonardo Acilo, at 22 years old. In 1978, she immigrated to the United States with the help of her older sister Gertrude Dorsey and settled in Seaside, CA with her husband, 2 sons and 4 daughters. Leandra worked at the Asilomar Conference Center in Pacific Grove from which she eventually retired. In her prime, Leandra was as a strong, energetic and outspoken woman. When she was young in the Philippines, Leandra was always on the dance floor during the fiestas. Throughout her retirement, she enjoyed dancing and swimming at the Oldemeyer center, shopping with her daughters, family vacations, bingo nights around town, and eating crunchy bread (kagubgub) with black tea. Leandra is preceded in death by her husband Leonardo, her first son, Leonardo Acilo Jr., and third daughter, Heralda Acilo. She leaves behind her 6 children: Rodolfo Acilo, Julia Mitchell (married to Milton Mitchell Sr.), Anecita Cagata (married to Nario Cagata), Marieta Aranda (married to Anthony Aranda), Carmen Acilo, and Benjamin Acilo (married to Jennifer Acilo); her 11 grandchildren: Emmanuel Tijing Jr., Jacqueline Aranda, Jeanine Latu, Milton Mitchell Jr., Jenny Lee Tijing, Angelica Marquez, Andrew Aranda, Carolyn Marquez, Leonardo Bradley Acilo, Lharcie Mae Acilo, and Liam Acilo; and her 8 great-grandchildren: Kaylee Aranda, Jayden Kim, Dajalynn Pajimola, Malaya Pajimola, Kalia Mitchell, Charity Latu, Zoe Tijing, and Shia Mitchell. Leandra will be missed dearly by her friends and family.
