Frank Joseph Lucido

Frank Joseph Lucido, son of the late Frank Salvator & Paulita Lucido. Born February 23rd, 1956 in Monterey, California. Frank went home to be with the Lord on August 30th, 2023. Frank attended local schools near his home in the Monte Vista neighborhood and was known for his athletic abilities in both baseball & football. Starting at the young age of 4, Frank was also a skindiver and loved being in the ocean. He would get abalone, sea urchin, and everything he could catch to eat fresh from the sea. In 1974 Frank’s family moved to Zamboanga, a city in the Philippines where his father worked as a fish buyer for Del Monte Corporation Fisheries. Frank adapted very well to the culture there and spoke the dialect called Javo Cano fluently. He made many friends, and they gave him a nick name, “Samo Puti” which means "White god”. Frank would share so many wonderful stories with his family and friends about his time in the Philippines and when he shared pictures, he sure was proud of his afro that reached down to his shoulders! For 13 years, Frank fished for salmon in Alaska on his family boat "The Polaris" with his father, brother-in-law, and his nephew. Frank would prepare the best jars of salted salmon after every season. His breaded BBQ’ d salmon topped with his “laigatha” sauce was award winning! Frank was a restaurant owner in Berkley, California where he was able to share his talents and passion as a culinary chef & caterer @La Cafe. His specialties included (but were not limited too), seafood & pasta. After selling his restaurant he returned to his hometown of Monterey and managed The Mediterranean Market at the Del Monte Shopping Center, alongside owner John Coniglio. Frank was later given the opportunity to work in construction for his brother-in-law and learn the trade. Due to the economy slowing down Frank made another change in his employment to driving Yellow Cab as an owner operator and enjoyed driving his regulars and tourists around town. In Frank’s retirement years he BBQ’ d at Bruno's Market in Carmel and loved prepping and cooking meat over the oakwood fire grill. Frank loved the Lord, his wife Fran of 38 years, his children; Vito, (Candi), Maryrose, (Franco),Teresa & his 8 grandchildren; Valentina, Isabella, Gianna, Danica, Dino, Rosalia, Giavanna, & Rocko. Frank enjoyed all sports and was an avid 49’er and Giant’s fan. His passion to cook and eat amongst family and friends was his favorite pastime. Frank loved riding on his Harley Davidson, playing golf, watching action movies, and enjoyed listening to Rock n Roll bands. Tower of Power was one of his favorites! Daddy Frank will be dearly missed, he was the patriarch of our family, always at the head of the table and will remain at the center of our hearts.
