Michael Everett McCollum

Michael Everett McCollum, age 63, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 4th, 2023. He was born April 1, 1960, in Orange, California,an interesting note he was born in the exact hospital room that his sister was born in 18 months earlier. Mike attended North Salinas High School, and Hartnell College. He went to work for Kuhlman Electric Co. where he met the Love of his Life, Linda Turner, at a "One on One" Communication Seminar they were both attending. They were married two years later and were forever together until his passing. Mike was employed by ADT Security Systems for 25 years. Early on Linda and Mike spend most weekends out dancing with a group of friends and family. His favorite band was Led Zeppelin and he was a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan. He loved taking a boat out and fishing at Pine Crest Lake. The family vacationed there almost every summer when his boys were young. He also enjoyed boogie boarding at Avila Beach, and he loved Jack Daniels, and karaoke. He was a natural entertainer, often singing "Always on My Mind" for his wife. It's hard to put into words. He brought joy, laughter, and love with him wherever he went. You never had to guess what he was thinking because he shared with unfiltered honesty. He cherished his wife, children and grandchildren. He was fierce in his love for them and put them above all else. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Linda, sons Garrett (Jenna) and Jacob and daughter Meghan, grandchildren Lev, Leeana, Asher, and Alice; Mother Joan McCollum, sisters Kim McCollum, Michele Bonstel; sister-in-laws Sherry Warner Smith (Ron) and Tari Johnson (Wayne) and brother-in-law Mathew Blackwell, mother and father-in-law Joyce and Johnny Payne. Also, several cousins, nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held on January 6th, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Valley Baptist Church. 345 E. Alvin Drive, Salinas, California. Reception will be held at American Legion Post 31 approximately 2:30 PM following the services. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Mission Mortuary, 1915 Ord Grove Avenue, Seaside, California.
