Mission Mortuary - Monterey
Ruth Cecilia Rodas
February 1st, 1955 - January 19th, 2024
Beloved Tuty was born in San Salvador, El Salvador on February 1st, 1955 to father, Francisco Rodas and mother, Mercedes Aráuz. She was the fourth of five siblings. She enjoyed her childhood bathing in natural springs and riding horseback on her father's ranch, El Limón. Later in her youth, her family purchased their family home in San Salvador where she lived until her young adult life. She immigrated to the United States in her early twenties to study art at the Academy of Art in San Francisco and acquired a bachelor's degree in Graphic Design. She was passionate about art, art history and the beauty of creating spaces that felt like living art. Vibrant and lush colors were her favorite way to express art and she used many floral patterns to embellish her life. She was married to Abdul Al-Asmar in 1988 and they had their first and only daughter, Najiha, in 1990. She was an amazing mother to more than just her daughter, as her longest occupation was running a daycare in the early 90's, nannying for a plethora of families for over 30 years, and raising many family and friends' children as her own. She was generous with her love and impacted countless people in her life. Her memory and joyfulness will never be forgotten. We will miss her endless loving heart. Rest in peace, Tuty.
