SALINAS, CALIFORNIA Phyllis Vandervort Grocholski McGuire August 1, 1947 - July 27, 2011 Phyllis passed peacefully Wednesday July 27, 2011 after a long illness, surrounded by her lifelong friends and husband. She is preceded in death by her Grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Vandervort. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Vandervort. Her son, Bryan Dentice and daughter, Tiffany A. Grocholski. Her previous husband, Bud Grocholski and her grandson , Salvador Dentice-Vargas. Phyllis was a lifelong resident of the Monterey Pennisula and attended Seaside grammar schools and Monterey High School. During her life she worked various jobs, including The District Attorney's Office as a Child Support Officer and the later part of her life as a beautician. Phyllis loved entertaining her friends and family, car racing, fishing, camping and living life to the fullest. She leaves behind her husband, Ron McGuire, sister Valda Luiz , sister and brother-in-law Bonnie and Jack Bowie, her grandson Dominic Dentice-Vargas, several step-children, a very large family and many , many close friends who will miss her very much. The Memorial Service will be held Friday August 5, 2011 at 1pm at Mission Memorial Park , 1915 Ord Grove Avenue, Seaside, CA, Followed by a celebration of her life at The American Legion No. 591 in Seaside. For almost 100 years, our cemetery has served the residents of the Monterey Bay Area. Mission Memorial Park opened in 1934 as Mission Memorial Cemetery and for many years was run by the City of Monterey. In 1988, Monterey Peninsula Mortuary opened on the grounds of our beautiful Seaside location. In 2007 we closed our Chapel of Seaside at our Noche Buena location and merged the two to become Mission Mortuary & Memorial Park....
