Charles Griffin
August 12th, 1926 - November 28th, 2015
Charles Griffin, 89, of Seaside, CA passed away November 28, 2015 peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones. He was born August 12, 1926 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army. He served in multiple stateside and overseas assignments from 1943 to 1964 as a Military Policeman, Sharpshooter during World War II and Korean War. He received several medals for his service. He retired after 21 years at the rank of Sergeant First Class. Charles loved serving his country, and the love of his life, his wife "Gloria" of 69 years of marriage. Upon military retirement in 1964. Charles became employed with Firestone in Salinas, California and retired at 15 years. He retired from Carmel Valley Ranch at 15 years, and after working side by side with his daughter Yolanda and son-in-law Nick at Russell Service Center in Pacific Grove, California & Marina Self-Storage in Marina, California for 10 years, Charles retired last year December 2014 at the age of 88. Charles and his wife Gloria have been members of The Filipino-American Club of Monterey Peninsula since 1960, which originated in Seaside, California and now is located in Marina, California. Charles will be remembered by his pleasant and outgoing personality, combined with a great sense of humor, love of family, as a strong role model for his sons and daughters. Charles was preceded in death by his father and mother Woodlow Griffin and Willie Adams Griffin. 6 Brothers; 2 Sisters; Son Michael Griffin and daughter Ida Griffin Branch. Charles leaves to cherish his precious memories his wife Gloria; His sons, Johnny Griffin of Arlington, VA; Charles Griffin Jr. of Seaside, CA; James Griffin of Portland, OR; Ronald B. Griffin of Marina, CA. his daughters, Priscilla Rodriguez, of Seaside, CA; Estella Griffin of Las Vegas, NV. Amanda Griffin of Marina, CA; Yolanda Napoleon (Nick) of Seaside, CA; Sister, Annie Mathews of Dayton, Ohio; 17 Grandchildren, 14 Great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. The Griffin family especially thanks our father's primary doctor Dr. Jay S. Edmonds, Dr. Jeffrey Chen and VNA of Hospice. Visitation will be held from 10:00am -11:00 am and Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am-12 noon Saturday, December 5, 2015, Mission Memorial Park and Seaside Funeral Home at 1915 Ord Grove Avenue, Seaside, California 93955.

Mission Memorial Park
For almost 100 years, our cemetery has served the residents of the Monterey Bay Area. Mission Memorial Park opened in 1934 as Mission Memorial Cemetery and for many years was run by the City of Monterey. In 1988, Monterey Peninsula Mortuary opened on the grounds of our beautiful Seaside location. In 2007 we closed our Chapel of Seaside at our Noche Buena location and merged the two to become Mission Mortuary & Memorial Park....
