Mission Mortuary - Monterey
Nancy Mary Mangiapane
August 2nd, 1916 - October 15th, 2012
Even in the midst of our grief, there is a sense of celebration in a life well lived. On October 15, 2012 our beloved mother passed into Heaven at the age of 96. She was born in Monterey, the oldest of six children born to Frank and Angelina Balesteri. She was Nana to seven grandchildren (one deceased granddaughter), great Nana to seven great grandchildren. Her joy was her family and she enjoyed many home cooked meals with them. She loved cooking and baking and dancing with our Dad Alberto who passed away in 2000. They sure did a great polka that will be remembered by all. Her Italian cookies and cannolis are legendary and many families enjoy her recipes and will pass them to the next generation. She was a lifelong charter member of the Italian Catholic Federation. She loved to travel and enjoyed many trips to Italy & Sicily and various cruises and also Vegas & Reno (Wheel of Fortune). She is survived by her children, Peter F. Mangiapane, Bella (Bert) Cutino, Angela (Terry) Wecker, her dear brother Santo (Babe) Balesteri and many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to all the angels that work at Pacific Rest Home. She received all her sacraments at San Carlos Cathedral and the family would be honored that any memorial gifts in her name would be sent to the San Carlos Restoration Project or the Children?s Miracle Network or the Gateway Center. She was interred on Oct. 19, 2012 following a private family funeral as per Mom?s wishes.

Mission Mortuary - Monterey
Being centrally located on the Monterey Peninsula and adjacent to the San Carlos and Monterey City Cemeteries, Mission Mortuary has been the premier funeral home choice for Monterey and the entire Monterey Bay Peninsula for many years. Mission Mortuary opened its doors in 1946 at a location on Munras Avenue in Monterey and moved to our current location on Camino El Estero in 1952. While times certainly have changed, Mission Mortuary has continually adapted to meet the evolving needs of our families....
