Alejandro "Alex" G. Esponilla
July 10th, 1940 - June 3rd, 2014
Alejandro G. Esponilla, Jr. was born to Alejandro Cabreza Esponilla and Saturnina Geronimo Esponilla at Fort Stotsenburg, Philippines (as were all four sibling befitting their father's distinguished military service) and passed away peacefully on June 3, 2014 in Monterey, California at the age of 73. He was preceded in death by his brothers Rudolfo, Orlando, Rogelio, and Alfredo Esponilla and survived by brothers Hector Esponilla, Philippines; Ernesto Esponilla, San Mateo; and sisters Delia Betonio, Mountain House; and Ofelia Austin, Carmichael; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and relatives in the Philippines and United States. Alejandro was named after his father and likewise proudly served his country in the Air Force from 1958 to 1960 and the Army from 1960 until his retirement to 1983. Alejandro G. Esponilla Jr. was a loving husband for 40 years to Dafrosa Obsiana, devoted father to Edwin Esponilla, Christopher Esponilla and wife Michelle Ilagan Esponilla, and beloved grandfather to CJ and Abigail Esponilla. Alejandro married his beautiful wife, Dafrosa (Rose) Obsiana on February 2, 1974, and they raised two sons Edwin and Christopher Esponilla. He cherished his grandchildren CJ and Abigail and spoiled numerous nieces and nephews. Alejandro cherished his entire extended family and loved telling jokes, dancing, and gambling. Alejandro G. Esponilla, Jr. will always be remembered and beloved for his kindness, generosity to all in need, and great sense of style.
