Suzanne Rene Marquez 1952-2014 Suzanne Rene Marquez of Del Rey Oaks, Calif. passed away quietly and peacefully on Thursday, September 4th 2014. She was born March 31, 1952 to Thomas and Ritsue "Dorothy" Yanuska in Honolulu, Hawaii. Suzanne is survived by her husband of 42 years, Henry Marquez, her son, Miles Marquez & wife Amanda, youngest brother Michael Yanuska, and granddaughter, River She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom & Ritsue Yanuska, and two older brothers, Thomas and Joseph. Suzanne was passionate about spending time with family and friends and would travel from New York City to spend her summers with son, Miles, in California to be with her older brothers, Thomas and his wife Arlene, their children Lori & Tommy Jr., Joseph & his wife Joanne, youngest brother Michael,and her beloved nieces and nephews, Timothy Yanuska, Joey Yanuska, Jamie Boughner and her husband Andy and their children Josiah and Ameryn and then to the Monterey Peninsula area to be with in-laws Shizu & Enrique "Hank" Marquez, brother-in-law Richard Marquez and his wife Natsuko and the many friends from her school days, whom she cherished and remained friends with. Suzanne graduated from Seaside High School in 1970 and after graduating from Monterey Peninsula College, married her high school boyfriend, Henry, in 1972 and moved to Los Angeles, Calif., where she began working in the Entertainment Industry at the business management firm, A. Morgan Maree & Associates, where she worked with numerous Hollywood stars including Natalie Wood, Jean Simmons & Robert Wagner. She later started her own successful business management firm specializing in the commercial illustration & design industry. After living in Los Angeles for 15 years, she gave birth to her son Miles, and the family moved to New York City in 1986. When her son, Miles, enrolled at the Dalton School in Manhattan, she became an active member of the parents association, serving as the chair person of the multicultural committee and teaching students to learn the value of giving back to the community through the Common Cents Penny Harvest program. In 1998, Suzanne, began working at the Dalton School Lower Program, as the assistant to the director and liaison between parents and faculty until she was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease and could no longer work in 2010. Because of her illness the family decided to return to California in 2012 to be closer to family and friends. Upon her return to California she became an active member of the Monterey Peninsula Parkinson's Support Group and loved attending services at the El Estero Presbytarian Church and was touched by the members compassion and support. Suzanne will always be remembered, by all those who knew her, for her boundless energy, spirit of adventure, vibrant personality and kind heart. We were all lucky to be touched by such a wonderful and caring woman. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 7 PM on Thursday, September 11th at El Estero Presbytarian Church with Pastor Craig Roberts presiding. www.missionmortuary.com
