Mission Mortuary - Monterey
John "Dave" Christensen
December 1st, 1937 - February 20th, 2017
John "David" Christensen, 79, of Monterey, CA, passed away on Monday, February 20th, 2017. Dave is survived by his wife Thuy (Le) of 20 years, four children (John Christensen, Andrea Pittman, Dan Christensen, Nicole Bateman) and eight grandchildren. Dave was a loving husband, devoted father, and steadfast friend to all, especially to the Le family. Born December 1st, 1937 to Soren and Lydia Christensen in Tabor, IA, Dave was the youngest of four children. His life-long walk with the Lord was fostered by his missionary parents' strong and loving influence. He, too, inspired a legacy of faithfulness to the Lord to his children and grandchildren. Stationed at the Naval Postgraduate School in 1959, Dave excelled as a photographer, printer, and carpenter. He remained in Monterey after his service and raised his family with his first wife of 35 years Janis (Graham). After building a home in the hills of Carmel and taking ownership of Cypress Lithographics, he dedicated himself to the construction and support of the Living Hope Church of the Nazarene as well as many other projects in the area. Dave will be remembered by family and friends for his many acts of kindness and service. Memorial services will be held Sunday, February 26th at 3 pm, at Living Hope Church, 1375 Josselyn Canyon Rd, Monterey, CA. Earlier that day between 11 am and 2 pm, an open viewing will be held at Mission Mortuary at 450 Camino El Estero.
