Barbara Reed Miller
December 16th, 1930 - April 1st, 2017
Barbara Miller passed away April 1st, 2017, peacefully at her home in Carmel. She was the only daughter of Helen and Charles Reed. Born and raised in Sanger, California she was a baton twirler and clarinet player for the marching band in high School. Barbara attended Reedley College, then Fresno State, where she was active in Delta Zeta Sorority, and received her degree. She taught swimming in Anchorage, Alaska one summer, and then Home Economics in Jackson, and Monterey, California. She was active with the Church in Carmel, and here she met and married the love of her life, her forever partner, Perry Miller. They decided that Carmel would be their home, and they lived, loved, and cherished their 62 years together here. Barbara was active in the Junior League, The Stillwater Yacht Club, Young Life, and the Church. Both Perry and Barbara were avid tennis players at the Beach and Tennis Club in Pebble Beach, where they played for over 50 years. Later in life, they both enjoyed Bridge, socially and competitively. But for Barbara, it was always about the social! Family and faith were always her priority. Grateful to have had her three children residing nearby for her life, she was able to live in her home and enjoy her family until the end. Barbara is survived by her husband Perry Miller, her children Melynda Olson (Glen), Lesley Anderson (John), and Reed Miller; grandchildren Carleigh Olson, Peri Olson, Thor Anderson (Lyndsi), Ashley Avilla (Brandon); and great grandson Blake Olson. A celebration of her life will be held at Carmel Presbyterian Church on Friday, April 28th, 2017 at 1:00 pm.
