Ernest "Gene" E. Tissot Jr.
December 16th, 1927 - May 3rd, 2019
Gene Tissot, age 91, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2019 in Monterey CA. Born in Upland, CA, he was an accomplished aviator with a 36-year career in the Navy. His crowning achievements were as Captain of the USS Enterprise and Rear Admiral of Carrier Group 5/Task Force 77. He worked for the Northrop Corporation for 10 years before retiring. He loved playing tennis, socializing with his Navy friends, and watching his beloved Boston Red Sox. He also loved the San Francisco 49ers and his cat, Jerry Rice. He had a keen interest in photography which represented many cherished memories. Gene lost Millie Patton, his wife of 52 years, in 2003, and he remarried Norma Bruhn in 2014. During his long life he was loved by his two beautiful wives, two devoted sons, two gorgeous daughters-in-law, and five amazing grandchildren and his great-grandchild and namesake, Gene McGregor. A open casket Viewing will be held on Friday May 10th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Mission Mortuary & Memorial Park 1915 Ord Grove Avenue in Seaside Ca. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at San Carlos Cathedral 500 Church Street , Monterey, Burial services with Military Honors immediately following at San Carlos Catholic Cemetery 792 Fremont Street,Monterey
