Mission Mortuary - Monterey
Manuel Arnold Leyva
September 2nd, 1954 - May 28th, 2019
It is with great sadness that The Leyva Family of Manuel was called to home on May 28, 2019 at the young age of 64 years old from a heart attack at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada. He leaves behind his Mother, Nellie Leyva of Seaside; Son, Joseph Morales and his life-long companion and Best Friend, Linda Stevens of Nevada; Siblings, Richard (Nadine) Leyva of Monterey; Barbara (Felix) Dolor of Seaside; Pinky Stevens of Iowa; Debbie (John Tom) Wilkerson of Seaside; David (Rose) Leyva of Seaside; Brother-in-Law, Alex Del Rosario of Seaside, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He rejoins his loved ones who proceeded in the light before him. His two Beloved Beautiful Daughters, Shalena and Gina Leyva, his Father and namesake Manuel Leyva Sr., his Eldest Sister, Angelina "Jill" Del Rosario and Favorite Uncle Arnold "Noyo" Peredes. Known as the "Baby Brother" of seven children there was nothing he liked better than being with his brothers and sisters. He is remembered as being giving and helpful anytime any of them asks him to pitch in. He loved to hang out and listen to a good oldies station! We can still see him turning up the volume on a song and saying, "ooh that's my song!" We will not forget his original style of dancing (spirit fingers), playing backgammon or black jack with at all the Family parties. His nieces and nephews will remember their "Cool" Uncle as always being the silly one but who was also so protective of them. For the older ones, who didn't sit on his lap while he drove his Mustang and letting us have total control of the steering wheel back or taking a walk to the school or parks with him to play back in the 1970's. As we got older and became adults he always expressed how proud he was with our accomplishments and we felt his Love for us all. Manuel always made his Family laugh. The legacy of your sarcasm in your jokes as well as the special way you used to laugh echoes in our memories of you. We Love you and Miss you so much but we are all comforted knowing that your Beautiful Daughters Shalena and Gina as well as all of our Family Angels were there with open arms to greet you in Heaven! Not long before his passing, Manuel relocated from Seaside, CA to Las Vegas, NV to have a fresh start in a new Home with his Son, Joseph and Life Long Companion and Best Friend, Linda. His last days in this life was shared with the Love, Happiness and Support of his immediate Family who he loved more than he could ever express. Our Deepest Condolences to Joseph and Linda during this difficult time. Your Family Loves you both! Manuel Leyva's ashes will be buried here in his hometown in an Intimate Memorial Service for Family and Friends on Friday, August 16, 2019 at 12:30 pm at Mission Memorial Park in Seaside.

Mission Mortuary - Monterey
Being centrally located on the Monterey Peninsula and adjacent to the San Carlos and Monterey City Cemeteries, Mission Mortuary has been the premier funeral home choice for Monterey and the entire Monterey Bay Peninsula for many years. Mission Mortuary opened its doors in 1946 at a location on Munras Avenue in Monterey and moved to our current location on Camino El Estero in 1952.
