On Monday January 10, 2022, William Leonard Shelton McDuffie answered to the Master’s call and slipped into eternal rest. He was 80 years old. Born in Plant City, Florida on January 8, 1942. The son of the late Willie Lee Shelton and LeMon Stansfield. William leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted with of 48 years, JoeAnn McDuffie. Retired SFC U.S. Army. He was a hospital food service administrator and instructor. Given the honor of drawing and designing the blueprints for Landstuhl Regional Medical Center’s Mess Hall in Germany. He worked for Monterey County Probation Department in the Juvenile Hall department, where he started a culinary arts program for juvenile offenders. Also, working at Soledad prison for a few years. Military service involved many theaters. Twice in Vietnam; twice in Europe; Germany; Ft. Sill in Oklahoma; Ft. Sam Houston in Texas; Ft. Stewart in Georgia; Walter Reed Army Hospital in Maryland; Washington D.C. and Ft. Lee in Virginia. A faithful member of the Holy Assembly Missionary Baptist Church of Marina, CA whether singing in choir or sitting in congregation, Deacon Mac was strong and constant. Gifted with musical talent of playing trombone. His spiritual growth was greatly encouraged at Holy Assembly with Pastor Raymond Martin. He is survived by his children Gary McDuffie and wife Diana of Arlington, TX; Geraldine McDuffie of West Palm Beach, Florida; Anita Ward of Clarksville, Tennessee; William McDuffie Jr. and wife Gayle of Versailles, Missouri; and Chastine Burnette of Richmond, Virginia; adopted sons Clifford McDuffie and Herman McDuffie of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild.
