Joycie (Joyce) Mae Vote, at age 89-years-old of Parker CO, was gracefully received into her Heavenly home by our loving Lord on May 3rd, 2024. She was born in Mancos, Colorado on July 5, 1934 to parents Alfred and Meriem Patterson and grew up in Dolores, CO. She was the eldest of three children, Jim and Bob Patterson, who preceded her into the next life.
She recalled childhood memories prior to her passing that included packing peaches in her family’s peach orchards as a young girl and a special, beloved dress made by her mama’s hands from a potato sack with beautiful designs from that era, as well as riding in the back of a truck to church with her brothers every Sunday, where she won an award for memorizing all the books of the Bible ~ she was always so proud of that.
She grew up on a ranch with horses, goats and cattle, instilling in her a hard-working ethic that carried her throughout her life. In her adult years, she spent the majority of it in Grand Junction, CO. She was passionate about animal rescue, especially dog and horse welfare. Joyce loved the Lord Jesus with all her heart, and her faith carried her throughout her life, always having a positive outlook, showing immense strength and resilience. Those closest to her knew her as being sassy, spunky, vivacious and a ball of love, with a wonderful sense of humor.
She worked in retail, in addition to the healthcare industry for the majority of her career. She was a dedicated nurse’s assistant at St. Mary’s Hospital of Grand Junction, Colorado, as well as a home health caregiver for the elderly. She worked as a florist at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs and in retirement, began her own business called Petal Pushers Floral Designs by Joyce, which was a floral business, making beautiful silk arrangements for clients and those she dearly loved.
In retirement, Joyce devoted her time doing the things she loved most, which was spending time with her family, her beloved dog Buddy, fishing, cooking, going to the horse stables with her daughter, Charmaine to see their horse, Bella; watching the horse races every Saturday, ice skating on Sunday and making floral arrangements for special occasions.
Joycie Mae left a profound mark on her daughter, Charmaine and grandson, Brendon who were at her side through life’s struggles and most importantly, her last chapter of life and final moments. The devotion, dedication and love she so unconditionally gave them throughout her life was instrumental to who they became and who they are today. She taught unconditional love, compassion and empathy to those who loved her most and exhibited a gracious spirit. She will be missed beyond measure and will forever be in their hearts. We're certain she's now surrounded by the beautiful hummingbirds of Heaven, her favorite bird of all…
She was survived by four children, including Cynthia Conti and Charmaine Vote of Parker, CO; four grandchildren to include April Murphy and Kristen Murphy, and Sean and Seth Jarboe, in addition to six great grandchildren.
