Sarah Elizabeth Vaughn
January 30th, 1930 - June 3rd, 2020
Sarah Elizabeth King Vaughn, 90, of Ocala passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at Brandley House in Summerfield. She was born January 30, 1930 the daughter of the late Robert Mercer and Nellie Butler Burnham. Sarah was a native Floridian; born, grew up and attended schools in Gulf Hammock and Inglis, married and raised her family in Lakeland, senior and retirement years in Fruitland Park and Ocala. Sarah was a faithful member of New Harvest Church of God. She loved bringing Children by bus to church during her years at 15th Street COG in Leesburg. Sarah later taught Bible Study at TimberRidge Nursing Home while her mother was a resident and recruited the grandchildren to sing and make gifts for residents. Sarah was an excellent seamstress, cook, and loved to crochet afghans and blankets for her children and/or contributed these items as well as talents to many church fundraising efforts. Survivors include her children: James King, Ellen (Steve) Anderson, Beverly (Jack) Varner, Delton King, Shelby (Danny) Varner Sr. Brother: Edward (Patsy) Burnham, Sisters: Reitha Stephens, Clarice (Richard) Leggett. Grandchildren: Chris (Lisa) Varner, Nikki Anderson, Heather (Kevin) Gamble, Erica (Josh) Cole, Brittany (James) Thompson, Ashley (Trenton) Murphy, Justin (Cheryl) Swaffar, Danny (Marie) Varner Jr., Cynthia (Chris) Binion, J. D. King Great-Grandchildren: Kristen, Kyle, Kinley, Abigail, Brady, Lexi, Liam, Zakery, Makenzie, Paisley, Silas, Dariyen, Ethan, Kheila, Adian. Predeceased by first husband of 46 years, Herman P King Jr. and second husband of nine years, LeRoy Vaughn. Parents: Robert Mercer Burnham and Nellie Butler Burnham. Sisters: Evelyn Crews, Vann Caraway, Cherry Alldredge. Brothers: Robert, Lee, Daniel, Fred and Cecil Burnham. A public visitation for family members and friends will be held on Saturday, June 6th from 1:00pm until 2:30pm at the Ocala Worship Center (1855 SW 1st Ave, Ocala, FL 34471).
